Trier, Viehmarkt Baths

To the north of the ancient forum of Trier, on a place that is now called the Viehmarkt, several Roman and Medieval remains have been discovered. The main structure was a bathhouse, although it was not originally built as such: ovens and water conduits have not been identified. At the beginning of the fourth century, however, when Trier became an imperial residence, the original building was restructured and became a bathhouse. Although the function of this building is well-understood, it is difficult to identify the individual details.
