Nicomedes II Epiphanes

After a palace intrige in 149 BCE, king Prusias II the Hunter of Bithynia was forced to resign in favor of Nicomedes II Epiphanes, a son of his first wife Apame. The old king was killed almost immediately after his abdication. During his reign, Nicomedes II was a loyal supporter of the Roman Republic, offering help against Aristonicus, a pretender who had started to rule as king of Pergamon, accepting the throne name of Eumenes III.

Nicomedes II was succeeded by his son Nicomedes III Euergetes.
