Legio II Isaura
Legio II Isaura: one of the legions of the later Roman empire. Its name means "the second Isaurian legion".
The name suggests that the legion and its twin III Isaura were founded to garrison a region, Isauria in the Taurus mountain range. Its creator must have been the emperor Probus (276-282), who is known to have campaigned against the mountain tribes of Cilicia.
According to the text known as Notitia Dignitatum, a list of magistracies and army units, II Isaura was still in Isauria at the beginning of the fifth century.
